Fleet Conversion Process

Reliable, low-emission converted propane vehicles can be used in many fleet applications, including airport ground service equipment, light- and medium-duty delivery vans, shuttle buses and transit buses, school buses, mowers and lawn equipment, street sweepers, trolleys, and law enforcement vehicles. Fleet vehicles can be converted to either dedicated propane vehicles or bi-fuel vehicles that use propane and an additional fuel.

Anyone who wants to convert a vehicle to use propane must work through a conversion partner, a manufacturer that holds an Certificate of Conformity from the Environmental Protection Agency for its products. Any conversion must be performed by a licensed technician associated with the manufacturer. A Certificate of Conformity authorizes a manufacturer to convert a particular vehicle or set of vehicles to use propane. The certificate also confirms that the converted vehicles meet EPA requirements.

The manufacturer will ensure that the equipment is properly installed and is safe, durable, and meets the emission standards of the original model year of the vehicle.

If a Certificate of Conformity has not been issued for your vehicle, a manufacturer may consider applying for a Certificate of Conformity for that vehicle. The manufacturer may also provide an estimate on how much it would cost to convert your vehicle.
