Permanent Stations

Permanent propane refueling stations provide easily accessible fuel for fleet drivers and owners of propane-fueled vehicles. Composed of an underground propane storage tank, spill-proof pump, and metering equipment, these stations safely and easily dispense liquid propane into a vehicle’s on-board storage cylinder.

Refueling

More than 270,000 on-road buses, taxis, delivery vehicles, and other fleet vehicles across the United States depend on public propane refueling stations or private stations located at a fleet’s home base. Propane stations are less expensive to install than stations used to dispense natural gas, and federal tax credits can help to offset the cost of installing propane fueling equipment. In addition, the use of propane qualifies fleet operators for an alternative fuel tax credit of 50 cents per gallon. (Visit the Additional Federal Incentive Programs page [link to  Additional Federal Incentive Programs page] for more information.)

Permanent stations for propane refueling offer the following benefits :
•    Feature technologies, such as spill-proof pumps, that ensure the safe transfer of propane fuel.
•    Are less expensive to install than natural gas refueling stations.
•    Are eligible for federal tax credits for alternative fuel and for the installation of refueling equipment.
•    Provide needed infrastructure to encourage wider use of propane vehicles and equipment.
